Dream team power up! Pew, pew, pew!! Frosty the negotiator "I'm not paying that!" Roz the master of disguise "I wear ladies jackets" Ella the entertainment guru "tell me the show and I will make it so" and Kat "The luchador. Signature move: can make a grown man headbutt his own knee" Together we have the power to; catch buses, drink beer (or vodka), eat pub dinners, and when the time calls for it, kick our own height. Our theme song? Complete silence.
Riga. Oh, Riga. We arrived off our bus to realise we had booked our accommodation for the wrong area but the boys sorted us out and we had a place in no time. Let's hit the town! Hop on a bus and don't pay for a ticket coz that's how we roll fools! We don't need no ticket to keep you fat cats happy! The Dream Team make their own rules and we don't listen to..."can I see your tickets please?" "Pardon?" "Tickets. Your bus tickets" (cue scene from Seinfeld) "oh! We didn't, we never knew, we, umm we didn't know how to..." "We only just got here from ah um Estonia" "yeh we only just, like 15 minutes ago got here. We didn't see a ticket machine. Did you see a ticket machine?" "Ticket machine? No I didn't see..." "You pay the bus driver." "The bus driver? Oh sorry we had no idea!" Puppy eyes. He gives us all his best disapointed mum face. "Go buy a ticket now" "yes sir, right away sir." Try and fine us sucker? No way, no how! We da Dream Team!!!
We booked a place right in old town which wasn't as impressive as Tallinn but was still pretty cool. They still had Christmas markets going too! Bonus! We hooked into some mulled wine and delicious home cooked food like roast pork, vegies, sausages and gravy. We also found a cafe wth good food and coffee that we loved but the staff always looked shocked when we walked in. They must have heard rumours about how bad ass a we were.

It was snowing a fair bit here. Wet sludgy snow mixed with blustery winds made it pretty tempting to bunker down in a pub or cafe. One day we even decided to go to the movies! We watched Interstellar and it blew our minds. Another good snow activity was going to the Museum of Natural History. You've heard of the London museum but let me tell you, this, this was a smaller, less impressive version of it. We did get stuck in amber though! Which was cool because it was during our Jurassic Park stage and we could totally relate to the movie.
The Dream Team were to have a short hiatus as Rowan and Ella left for Paris. While we left on a train for Latvia's version of Paris! And by Paris I mean, not Paris. We went to a small town a few hours away on the train which was meant to have ski fields. It did have a ski field which was one hill and it was a biggun! I've never skid before so I said no to the big slope but my Frost is a trooper and gave it a good go. First he tried the snowboard. He fell off going up on the t-bar. Which, can I just say, was spectacular! Then he swapped for skis and tackled the slope nice and safely. It was his first time ever and he was really good at taking it slow and teaching himself. Slowly, slowly aaaalll the way down the hill until juuuust at the end. Instead of keeping his skis pointed across the mountain he turned too far, straightened up and started picking up speed. At the bottom of the slope was a tiny wooden hut that the pros would ski around in a big arc to finish off their run. This was no beginners track! Well too late for frosty who went flying toward the wooden hut. I squished my face up against the cafe window (good hot chocs!) Waiting to see him smash into the cabin but he disappeared! I couldn't see him!! Out he pops on the other side having completed a perfect slow down turn thingy. His eyes were bulging and his head swishing this way and that as he looked at the others around. He couldn't believe his luck! If the others knew it was his first time skiing I'm sure they would have given him a round of applause!
The best part came later when a profesh skier tried to avoid Frosty and stacked it. He went flying down the hill hat, gloves, sticks and skis flying. I could see Frosty was stuck between skiing down to help the guy and not wanting to lose control and take him out again. The guy was unhurt and pretty nice about it all. We called it a day after that.
One of the great things about this town was the lack of public transport, including taxis, and the fact they were in the middle of an unusual cold snap. So we got to walk everywhere in -17 degrees! I thought we'd left the Arctic!!
Back to Riga for a few hours (and another interstellar hit!) before our flight to the UK and to EET up with Rowan and Ella in Scotland!
